  • Jute: an ancestral fiber

Jute is a natural fiber with a golden shine, also known as the "golden fiber". It is the second most produced and used natural fiber after cotton. The cultivation of jute dates back to over 800 BC and has been recognized for over 200 years as a substitute for European flax and hemp.

    Jute cultivation

Jute plants grow in humid regions: 85% of the world's production comes from the Bay of Bengal, with 60% from India and 25% from Bangladesh, closely followed by Myanmar (Burma) and Nepal. Jute plant cultivation requires a significant workforce, as mechanization is not adapted to the process.

    Pochon en toile de jute

J'en avais acheté deux, je ne regrette pas du tout. Très pratique. Le savon sèche parfaitement sans pour autant coller.
